This is the story of how a community transformed mudflats
into a mangrove forest by the Municipality of Kalibo,Uswag Foundation and the
National Government (DENR) and people’s organization KASAMA. This community
based management was adopted a national strategy and received various local,
national, and international awards the united nations FAO acclaimed this one of
the exemplary forest managed in the whole of asia and the pacific.
Bakhawan Eco-Park is located at New Buswang, Kalibo, Aklan.In this place will you experience a 1.1 kilo meter walk for about 15-20 minutes and enjoying seeing the mangrove and taking photos.It jus minutes from the Kalibo proper..From town of Kalibo , just ride the tricycle and tell the driver that you going to Bakhawan it cost P15.00 per person..And you may also pay the Entrance fee if your a tourist it cost P50.00, the Aklan native P30.00 and student P20.00. Open daily at 8:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M..if your hungry walking they have also a Canteen, and SPA massage...At the dead end there some nipa hut that you can take a rest while watching the sea.
